About the Artist

Kate Emberlyn Miller’s practice is informed by a deep connection to the earth and by her spiritual training, weaving together artistic process and ritual to create paintings that function as spaces of reflection, reconnection, and quiet transformation.

Emberlyn’s creative path has been shaped by a diverse career spanning design, retail, and entrepreneurship. She is the founder and original creative force behind Elworthy Studio, a luxury wallpaper and textile company whose designs have been featured in publications including Luxe, Interior Design, and Architectural Digest. After more than a decade creating home décor based on her artwork, Kate felt drawn to expand her practice into painting in order to more fully express her artistic voice. She transitioned Elworthy Studio to a trusted partner and now focuses on creating one-of-a-kind original paintings.

Earlier in her career, Emberlyn worked as a designer buyer and visual merchandising manager for a major New York–based department store—while moonlighting as a DJ—and later as online merchandising manager for a fast-growing e-commerce startup. More recently, she participated in and co-facilitated a year-long shamanic training program focused on healing, personal transformation, and reconnecting with earth-based ways of living.

She has lived in several major cities around the world, including New York, London, Shanghai, and San Francisco, yet left the urban life behind for a serene coastal town in Northern California where she lives with her family. When she isn't in the studio, Kate enjoys long hikes and beach walks, singing with her community song circle, wildcrafting herbal medicine, and getting lost in fantasy novels.
